WHY should I eat post workout?

Let’s keep it simple here. Working out requires a lot of energy and your body gets energy from food. So you need to give your body more energy for it to operate properly.
It is also important to have a healthy post workout meal because this will repair your muscles after a tough workout! This allows them to be even stronger for the next workout.
And when you sweat, your body loses electrolytes. Your food is going to help you replace those vitamins and minerals as well.

WHAT should I eat post workout?

So now that you understand that your post workout meal is important to replenish, repair, and refuel your body, let’s find out what you should be eating. This is why I picked certain ingredients for this tasty protein energy balls recipe!
First of all, yeah need a good source of protein to repair and build muscle. Yes, this is still important even if you’re not a bodybuilder! Your muscle fibers get broken down during a workout and they need protein and amino acids to repair and get stronger.
Next, you need carbs to refuel your body! You don’t want just any carbs after a workout, you want simple carbs! Such as sweet potatoes (which is the main ingredient in these protein energy balls) because they digest faster!
Your body needs an insulin spike post workout (which is what a simple carb will do) to help your body absorb protein and nutrients.
And as far as fats go…having small amounts of healthy fats in your post workout meal is ok but it should be limited. Large quantities of fat after a workout can slow digestion and inhibit the absorption of nutrients you get from the protein and carbs. that you're an expert in post workout meals, let's get to the recipe!
